As those of you who follow us on social media will know, I have made a promise to show a little more of a personal side to Just Sew. I am a very private person so this is a little out of my comfort zone. Professionalism is also incredibly important to me, hence keeping my private life private, but I have come to the conclusion that I can do both - show you a bit more of me while maintaining a professional level.
I love getting to know the face behind other businesses, so why would my lovely clients (you) be any different???!!!
I've been procrastinating over a blog for sometime. What do I blog about?? I'm not that interesting?! But I have come to the conclusion that sometimes the most interesting reads are just everyday stuff. Handy hints or tips or little bits of info that we can all relate to on a day to day basis. Mainly home decor based in this case, but I might throw the odd unrelated topic in from time to time!
So I thought the best way to start was with a proper introduction!.....
Hello! My name is Nicki. I am a Mum of two and wife of one!! At the time of writing this my children are 7.5 years (son) and not long turned 5 years (daughter).
This is us! Admittedly this photo is a couple of years old but its the last family pic we have, which is terrible!! Note to self; take more family photos.
I am originally from Christchurch but have lived in Auckland now for 16 years. My family are still Christchurch based so we visit regularly.
We moved rurally almost four years ago and it is amazing - the space, the quiet, green as far as the eye can see! I won't lie, the travel can get to you and I find winter harder rurally but all in all it was the best decision.
We are lucky enough to over look the Kaipara Harbour and boy we live in one stunner of a country! NZ really is beautiful.
We have a pet dog, Boston, and currently 11 chickens and 3 cows/hiefers.
Our home has quite a rustic feel to it - in fitting with its surrounds. Schist, wooden floors, arched ceilings. Although I love colour I'm not a huge colour person myself so have stuck to neutral, restful decor with a hint of greenery here and there.
Prior to having my family I worked in the textile trade for many years and previous to that I worked in home decor/interiors. I've always loved decor and fabrics and, without sounding like a complete loop!, cushions!!
I love that they can make such a difference to a room - a real impact or statement. But yet are so easy and cost effective to change for a completely new look.
So Just Sew means I can combine my love of fabric and cushions! Of course along the way I have added new pieces to the range and hope to continue doing so.
The name Just Sew is of course a play on the fact I sew but also that I like things to be 'just so'. I am a complete neat freak! And a bit of a perfectionist.
Well I think that might be it. Blog #1 done!
I hope you've enjoyed reading a little more about me - I will get my thinking cap on and come up with some slightly more interesting topics for next time!
